HOW DO I KNOW IF MY POOL HAS A LEAK?

The most common reason for suspecting a leak is you’ve noticed a larger than normal drop in the water level.

SYMPTOMS OF A POOL LEAK

  • Increased chemical demands- to treat new water that is added to the pool
  • Increased water bills
  • Cracks in the deck
  • Unexplained water outside the pool

If you notice any of these symptoms of a leaking pool, you can call us or if your not sure if it is evaporation you may want to try the “bucket test”. The bucket test is an easy test to check if you truly have a leak or evaporation.

Here is the procedure ( or call us)

  • Fill the level of your pool to normal operating level(mid skimmer)
  • Fill a bucket with pool water to about one inch from the top
  • Place the bucket on the first or second step of the pool
  • Mark water level on the inside of bucket (you can use colored tape or marker)
  • Shut off pump and mark pool level on outside of bucket.
  • Resume normal pump operation
  • After 24-48 hours, compare the two levels,if the pool water (outside mark) goes down more than the inside water level, there is probably a leak. If it rains you will need to repeat the test.
  • Contact Simply Clean Pools, for leak detection
